Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

My player is 14/15 years old and does not want to travel.  What are the options this year?

There is not an in-house option for players ages 14-15.  This program is now run through the Mankato Royals travel program.

When do In-House practices and games start?

Practices will start the first week in May after players are contacted by their coaches.  Games will begin the first week in June and extend through the third week in July.

When can I sign my child up to play baseball?

Mayba allows children who are either 5 years old by May 1st or will be entering kindergarten in the fall to start in our program.  All signups for 2024 will be online through the Mayba website.  Registration for travel  and In-house Baseball will start on January 1, 2024.

Do I sign up by grade or by age?

If the difference between your player's age and grade is greater than or less than 6 you need to indicate if you want your child to play by age or by grade.  By grade will place your player with classmates.  By age may mean the player will play with players a grade younger or older than your player's current grade.  If the difference equals 6 - then your players age and grade would be at the same level.

When is the Mayba Warehouse Open?

The warehouse will open on December 2, 2023.

What equipment do I need for travel baseball?

If you are intending on playing travel baseball through our Royals program you will need to provide the glove, pants and cleats.  The Royals program will provide the jersey, belt, socks and a hat.

What night would my child play for the house league?

Children ages 5/6, 8, 10/11, and 12/13 play on Monday and Wednesday night.  Children ages 7 and 9 will play on Tuesday and Thursday night.

What is the difference between travel and the house league?

The Mankato Youth Baseball Association offers two programs for players in the Greater Mankato Area.  The first program you would participate in is our House Program.  It is offered to players ages 5-13 years old.  Games are played during the week with the majority of the games in Mankato/North Mankato.  The Travel Program is available to players 10-18 years old.  It involves a tryout process and weekend tournaments.  Travel ages 14-18 also participate in league play.
