Adam Geiger Named UMAC Rookie of the Year

Mankato, Minn. – The Viking baseball team had seven individuals honored with Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference awards this season. In addition to all-conference awards, Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo) was named UMAC Co-Pitcher of the Year and Adam Geiger (Mankato, Minn./Immanuel Lutheran) was named UMAC Rookie of the Year.

Along with the pitcher of the year award, Benson was named UMAC First Team All-Conference. Aaron Siefken (Lone Rock, Iowa/Iowa Central CC), Lucas Herd (Gaylord, Minn./Sibley East), Tommy Kramer (Blooming Prairie, Minn./Rochester CC) and Casey Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Minnesota Crookston) were also named UMAC First Team All-Conference. In addition to Geiger’s rookie of the year award, he was named UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention along with teammate Sam Stier (Austin, Minn./Pacelli). 

Geiger led the team RBI with 35 and in doubles hammering a total of 14. The freshman also logged one triple and three home runs. Geiger had a .311 batting average during the season and .353 batting average during conference play. In left field he committed no errors during UMAC games.

The Vikings ended the season second in the conference regular season with a 14-5 UMAC record and 22-17 overall record. It was the sixth consecutive season the Vikings posted at least 20 wins.
